a message about doc savage

so: issue 6 of DC comics’ DOC SAVAGE starts a run that i’m scripting. i’ve heard some concern from readers who might not have read issues 1-5 or who might not in general be familiar with the character and his long and excellent history.

let me assure you, dear reader, that while i’ve got several goals on this particular gig, WAY up by the top is this one:

DOC SAVAGE #6 IS INTENDED TO BE A PERFECT INTRODUCTION TO NEW READERS.

the first issue i ever read of anything was definitely not a #1 issue and we’ve crafted issue 6 as a place where anyone can comfortably hop on board. it’s the first part of an all new story and we’ve loved it like we would a gigantic bronze genre-defying baby. doc is one of my favorite characters of all time and it’s important to me that he becomes your favorite, too.

so don’t worry about the previous issues or the books or any of that. just come along for a good time and we’ll take care of you.

doc 6 is out next thursday, september 9th. if you’re in NYC, come by midtown comics grand central station shop after 6:30 PM and i’ll sign one for you.
