I’m a teacher too, and even when I’ve taught at the most D-list for-profit colleges, I’ve always given 110%. ALWAYS. I’m building MY NAME and, like you said, no one knows what I’m getting paid or what decrepit condition my classrooms were in. As far as other people were concerned when I show my CV around, every place was MIT or Harvard. When they call those places to see what kind of job I did as a reference check, the person on the other end isn’t going to say “Well he did OK, but we’re sort of a shithole so it wasn’t a big deal.”
